Tasting Note:

Aguja del Fraile (Needle of the Friar) takes its name from the mountain tops visible from the village of Cadalso de los Vidrios. The wine is sourced from four predominantly east-facing plots averaging 800m in elevation and 70 year old vines. More homogenous in terms of elevation than Cien Lanzas. East and north facing so a longer growing cycle and cooler in in style. Soils are poorer and rockier. Darker fruit with more concentration and mineral substance. Long, intense with a cool, crisp, vertical profile that makes the mouth water. The finest vintage to date? Quite possibly. Fermented with whole bunches and aged for 15 months in used oak.
