    Justerini & Brooks Tasting note

The 2023 is remarkably powerful and salty with a firm, almost tannic edge, yielding an intense and impressively composed Gewurztraminer that positively shimmers with real, earthbound minerality and salinity. This highly refined impression is one that comes across drier and more concentrated than the more immediately seductive, succulently sweet Altenbourg Gewurz. Despite its 22g residual sugar, it drinks like a stately, long-lived dry wine. The Grand Cru Furstentum is made up of limestone-clay and sandstone, which produces wines of great aromatic complexity as well as elegance.

The 2023 Gewurztraminer Furstentum Grand Cru is shy on the nose, revealing gentle Damask rose and tangerine scents with fine overtones of honeysuckle. The palate is full and gentle, with smooth serenity, creaminess and a mere touch of rose oil. Its 23 g/L of residual sweetness are well placed, lending softness rather than sweetness amidst bright citric freshness. This has a totally balanced finish with a full but defined body.
