    Justerini & Brooks Tasting note

A tiny bottling of no more than 2000 bottles, from a specific parcel of 60 year old vines on extremely mineral soils at the bottom of Blanche Voies, this is one of Champagne’s great cuvees. Fermented and aged for 10 months in barrique, after which it spends 7 years sur lie and 2 years post disgorgement prior to release - this particular bottling was disgorged in June 2020. It’s smart, seriously smart. Fine stone, white Paris mushroom and fine citrus zest aromas rise from the glass with cut glass precision and detail. As it hits the palate sparks fly; this is a cuvee crackling with energy and racy purity, yet no hint of austerity, just taut intensity and crystalline, saline fruit that spreads across the palate. Complex, dry and serious, this is a wonderfully intense cuvee with both great depth and great finesse. A star.

The 2012 Extra-Brut Blanc de Blancs Les Blanches Voies is elegant, weightless and crystalline in its purity. Lemon peel, white flowers, crushed rocks and marzipan abound. Another six months has done the 2012 wonders. A wine of transparency and crystalline purity. Even with more than two years of disgorgement, the 2012 is very tightly wound. It's all understatement and class here.
