Barolo, Santo Stefano di Perno, 2015

Tasting Note:

Always the broader more muscled wine of the stable but with an aromatic openness you rarely find in such a young vintage. Layered of sweet powerful red fruit fused with notes of roasted coffee bean and scorched earth. Grounded and more solid and blustering than the Monprivato but an abundance of sweet red fruit to offset the structure. A super effort, one of the best young Santo Stefano’s we have tasted. A west-south west facing vineyard from the Monforte d’Alba commune that produces powerful, muscular Barolos typical of the area. Aged for 36 months large oak vats.
