Domaine de Cambes, Bordeaux, 2021

Available Vintages
justerini & brooks tasting note

Francois Mitjavile's Domaine de Cambes hails from the lower slopes closest to the river. Following 2020 was going to be a tough act, and whilst this isn't quite as decadent, it's still a rather lovely wine in a more delicate, gentle style. There's lots of exuberant, seductive, velvety fruit, coupled with a refreshing line of acidity and a salty, mouth-watering finish. Less opulence and more freshness than usual, but still with the usual Mitjavile tactile quality.

critic reviews

89/100Neal Martin,Vinous

The 2021 Domaine des Cambes could still be easily mistaken for a Burgundy on the nose, where it shows finely delineated notes of pure with vibrant red fruit mixed with sous-bois and lavender. The palate is medium-bodied with fleshy red fruit. Slightly powdery in texture, it feels nicely structured, with just a touch of graphite on the finish. Fine.

The 2021 Domaine de Cambes is lovely, bursting from the glass with aromas of dark berries and cherries mingled with rich spices, licorice and incense. Medium to full-bodied, rich and layered, with powdery tannins and a suave, charming profile, it will offer a broad drinking window.

Medium garnet-purple colored, the 2021 Domaine de Cambes rolls out with red berry scents of kirsch, wild strawberries, and fragrant soil followed by dried roses and wild sage. Medium-bodied, the palate is satiny with plenty of vibrant red berry flavors and soft acidity, finishing with a savory lift.
