    Justerini & Brooks Tasting note
La Chenade, Lalande de Pomerol, 2009

As we have stated in our vintage overview, this is not the most homogenous vintage, particularly for many of the less expensive wines. However, if you look closely, (and we did at literally hundreds), you can discover some great value wines for short to medium term drinking. La Chenade is always one of our favourite value buys and the 2009 is definitely a wine to stock up with. Seductive, soft, plumy fruit, very lush and suave with great intensity, precision and a beautiful silky texture. Very smart.

    Ian d'Agata, Vinous
(90% merlot and 10% cabernet franc; 20% new oak) Bright ruby-red. Fresh violet, blackcurrant and dark chocolate aromas on the perfumed nose: a cabernet franc bonanza! Sweet, supple and fresh, with considerable power to the mid-palate and brooding flavors similar to the aromas. Finishes moderately long, with youthfully chalky tannins and a lingering violet perfume. This will need time to smooth out some of its rustic edges and develop nuance and grace to go along with its power. This very promising wine from Denis Durantou benefits from old selection massale cabernet franc planted on clay soil.
