    Justerini & Brooks Tasting note

A classic Domaine de Cambes, in that it's probably the most unique wine in all of Bordeaux, but what else would you expect? Made from the slopes closest to the river, below the Roc de Cambes vineyard, there is a tell-tale bouquet of degraded fruits, mocha, plums, spices and brioche. On the palate there is ample sweet fruit, suggestions of coulis; it feels quite decadent and tender whilst also showing some vibrancy. Overall, it is a pretty cohesive Domaine de Cambes. If you like the Mitjavile style, this will give plenty of pleasure.

The wine from the lower parts of the Roc de Cambes vineyard opens with spiced blackberry and toasted oak. The palate feels light and juicy, albeit with dark fruit, toasty oak, charcoal and rose petal tobacco at its heart, as well as a rich ribbon of ripe and well-knit tannins underneath, which leaves a weighty tannic grip on the palate for length. This should be drinking well just a few years from now. The alcohol on the label is 15%.

The 2022 Domaine des Cambes showcases impressive purity of fruit on the nose with scents of black cherry, crushed violet and hints of iodine. It's very perfumed with neatly integrated oak. The palate is lithe and pure, not far from the Côte de Nuits in terms of fruit profile, with a touch of black pepper and graphite toward the finish. This is very fine.

Offering up aromas of dark berries, berries, espresso roast and toasty oak, the 2022 Domaine de Cambes is medium to full-bodied, layered, fleshy and concentrated, with a sweet core of fruit and a saline finish. It's produced from vines growing on deep, cool clays on the foggy bank of the Gironde and is always more giving than the firmer, more structured Roc de Cambes from higher-altitude clay-limestone soils.
